Police seek info on homicide at Safari Lounge in Bailey’s Crossroads

A 20-year-old man from Capital Heights, Md., Darnell Rashard Ford, was shot and killed outside the Safari Lounge, at 5831 Columbia Pike, in Bailey’s Crossroads, shortly after 2 a.m. on Dec. 13. The Fairfax County Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying those responsible for the death of Ford. He was in the parking lot at the rear of the business when the shooting occurred.

“There were several celebrations taking place at the lounge and police believe someone has vital information about the shooting,” the FCPD states. “Detectives do not believe this is a random act and therefore there is no apparent, overt threat to public safety.”

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Crime Solvers, by calling 866-411-8477 (TIPS) or texting TIP187 plus your message to CRIMES(274637), or call the police, 703-691-2131.

  1. Yeah, let's build apartments and an elementary school on that block … that will "fix" Bailey's blight. HO-HO-HO.
    Way to go One Cent!

    1. Cause the right way to fix blight is to STOP redevelopment? Hmm? And since there are lots of kids there, where would you have put an ES?

  2. This place is sketchy as hell. Blacked out windows, no lighting, and not sure if they even sell food. Seems like a total front and something else Fairfax County turns a blind eye to. Good thing they want to put an elementary school right there.

    1. Need to bulldoze all of these sleazy business down with a bulldozer. These nationals are use to being corrupt and sketchy. The only place they should be doing business is back where they came from. Mason District needs to start enforcing a no tolerance to these illegal criminals.

    2. Based on his name, I bet Mr Ford was born in the USA, and descended from people living here more than 200 years.IE it has NOTHING to do with illegals.

  3. FCPD and FXCO turn a blind eye on orders of "One Cent " Gross as she devotes all the money and energy to Baileys where she knows she'll get votes in return for protecting illegals.

    1. Since there have been no other such drug busts for 5 1/2 years are we to believe that narcotic crime was ended in Mason District in 2009?
Or is it more likely the "blind eyes" are turned on by the powers that be?

  4. The US ICE should put these people on a ship and send it out to sea and then blow it up. Forget about returning to sender, return them to hell where they belong.

  5. don't worry Penny Gross and crew are going to fix this all by developing everything into strip malls. problem solved!

  6. Too many of the comments here consist of one-sided, unfair criticism of Penny Gross.

Those criticizing the proposed redevelopment of this plot of land are particularly detached from reality. Why are they opposing private investment that would redevelop the Safari Lounge and neighboring property into a modern apartment complex? They sure don't seem to like the current use of the property, and the only alternative they seem to support is the use of a bulldozer. If that's what they want then they should buy the property, develop it into a park, and gift it in perpetuity to Faifax County as long as it is kept as a park. But they need to come up with the money to do it.

  7. Citizens are still seeking answers from the Geer shooting. The police were heavily armed and know who the shooter is, yet we the taxpayers have no means of external police investigation.

  8. Baileys lost it's identity as a community years ago, with the road widening. It's an intersection. They to figure how to establish community back into this area. Sorry the fire house just got rebuilt and did not go back on route 7.
