The telephone scammers have been threatening people
with statements like: “Your
driver’s license has been suspended,” “You will be arrested,” “You will be
deported,” and “We are on our way to your home right now.” In some cases, the
callers have been described as having heavy accents.

Fairfax County Police
warn the public not to fall prey to scammers and to notify police of
these criminal incidents. These scams are sophisticated and involve false
names, numbers, and “IRS” badge numbers. Be skeptical if
someone tells you owe tax money and demands you pay with a Green Dot MoneyPak. Once you send money to a scammer, it’s impossible to recover.
