Pool with generator reaches out to pool without power

As Annandale/Mason residents cleaned up after Friday’s rare
derecho storm—removing tree branches, clearing out and restocking refrigerators—we
suspect there were plenty of examples of neighbors helping one another get
through the long, hot days without power. If you’ve got a good story to share,

Here’s one example, from Parklawn resident Stephanie Liller
about one swim team in the  highly
competitive Northern Virginia Swim League reaching out to another:

Both the Parklawn Pool, in the Alexandria section of Fairfax
County, and the nearby Dowden Terrace Pool, in the City of Alexandria, had been
without power since the storm. Members of the Parklawn pool were able to secure
a generator, so they invited the Dowden Terrace Dolphins swim team (Division 8) to practice there on
the morning of July 4 with the Parklawn Piranhas (Division 15).  

The generator was essential to ensure that the Parklawn pool
was able to hold its traditional Fourth of July festivities, including a
children’s parade and poolside bingo.
