Local residents have a new place to get fit, strong,
and healthy, thanks to the re-opening of PR Performance Fitness in a newly
renovated storefront at 4111 John Marr Drive, Annandale.

The fitness studio, named for co-owners Pablo Amaya and Rachel
Martin, offers customized workout sessions designed to improve cardio capacity, strength,
flexibility, and balance for people of all ages and physical conditions.

After relocating from a cramped space in an Annandale office park, PR
Performance Fitness celebrated its Grand Opening June 10 with a community celebration in its new,
well-equipped space.

That spirit was embraced by Annandale resident and PR client
Dan McKinnon, age 83, who lauded the “whole body experience” stressed by Amaya,
who helps him focus on nutrition, correct breathing, and a positive attitude, as well
as physical fitness.

At the event, Dr. George Carlo, performance coach for the
Detroit Tigers, author, and former military consultant, announced that PR
is going to be a Secrets of Champions Center for Excellence, a program launched
by Carlo to promote the mind-body connection and healthy nutrition.

The opening celebration featured free
fitness assessments, giveaways, kids’ activities, fitness demonstrations, and
displays from PR’s community partners, including the police and fire
departments and local businesses. The
event included face painting by Princessland and food from Chicken Pollo,
Celebrity Delly, and Corner Bakery Café.

Martin said PR is planning to partner with the Mason Police
District to offer self-defense classes for women. She also said PR will have something special every week, beginning with a Family Fun Day next Saturday, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
