Covering Annandale, Bailey's Crossroads, Lincolnia, and Seven Corners in Fairfax County, Virginia

Public hearing on Sears site tonight

A public comment
period has been added to tonight’s meeting of the Seven Corners Opportunity Area C Special Working Group. The meeting is at the Mason District Government
Center, 6507 Columbia Pike, Annandale, and starts earlier, 6:30 p.m., than
usual.

The working group
is exploring redevelopment options for the Sears site on Leesburg Pike. Members of the public will be invited to speak
following the regular agenda, which will include a presentation from Fairfax
County staff on preliminary design concepts based on the alternative plans proposed by the group at the design workshop and
a summary of public comments from the community open house in December.

“Public input at
this time is particularly important so that when a written plan needs to come
together over the next few weeks, we will have the benefit of community input,”
says the group’s chairman, Marty Faga.
Also on tonight’s
agenda: a discussion of possible transportation scenarios and a presentation by
the facilities planning office of Fairfax County Public Schools on the
methodology it uses to determine how many students are expected to live in a
new housing development.
