The public is invited to an open house Feb. 11 to learn about the mixed-use redevelopment plans for the Beauregard corridor.
Representatives of the property owners will be on hand to explain their projects and answer questions. The event takes place in a white tent in the parking lot at the Shops at Mark Center, 1452-1480 North Beauregard St., Alexandria, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
The open house is hosted by the Beauregard Corridor Developer Stakeholders, which includes the JBG Companies, Home Properties, Hekemian and Co., Duke Realty, and Southern Towers. The stakeholders have been working collaboratively with the City of Alexandria and the community on the Beauregard Corridor Small Area Plan over the last two and a half years.
The plan outlines urbanization in the West End of Alexandria over the next 20 to 30 years, an area already seeing the impact of the BRAC-133 complex at the Mark Center. In addition to new multifamily housing, office buildings, hotels, and stores, the plans includes community amenities, such as parks, a new fire station, athletic fields, and transportation improvements.
The public is also invited to a community meeting to discuss the working draft of the Beauregard Small Area Plan, Feb. 21, 7 p.m., at John Adams Elementary School media center, 5651 Rayburn Ave., Alexandria.
The City of Alexandria is seeking comments on the working draft, which was released Jan. 23. The deadline for comments has been extended until Feb. 13. Comments can be submitted online or emailed to Zunilda Rodriguez in the city’s Planning and Zoning Department.
