Queen of Apostles School hosts 5K and international festival May 30

The 2014 Queen of Apostles 5K.

Come outside, get some exercise, and have fun at the annual 5K Soar Like an Eagle Run hosted by the Queen of Apostles School May 30.

The 5K starts at 8 a.m. at 4409 Sano Drive, Alexandria, and will wind through the streets of the Parklawn neighborhood. There will also be a one-mile fun run at 9 a.m. Register online by noon on May 29 or come early and register on site.

Overall winners, as well as the top two in each age group, will be awarded gift cards. Each runner will be entered into a raffle for a variety of giveaways. The event includes free breakfast, a rock-climbing wall, and fitness demonstrations. There will be supervised activities for kids between 8 and 9 a.m. while their parents are running.

Following the races, the public is invited to stay for the school’s annual International Festival, featuring rides, a moon bounce, live music from around the world, children’s activities, and an international food court.

Advance registration for the 5K race is $25 for adults and $20 for youths 18 and under ($30 and $25 on site). The 1K race is $10 in advance and $12 on site. There are family discounts for those registering by May 29.

If you’re in the mood for more running, come to the Diamond Dash 5K on June 13 held in conjunction with the Taste of Annandale.
