Antisemitic flyers target Fairfax County school board members

Antisemitic and homophobic flyers have been distributed in Fairfax County aimed at members of
the Fairfax County School Board. The flyers
say they are from the Ku Klux Klan.

In response,
school board member Stella Pekarsky (Sully), said, “hate group attacks like
these are meant to terrorize entire communities. When we are confronted with
such bigotry, we must stand up and strongly condemn it.

These attacks are part
of an alarming escalation of Antisemitism in political conversations in this
country,” said school board member Laura Jane Cohen (Springfield). “Whether
it’s a sitting member of Congress equating public health measures during the
pandemic to the Holocaust or the KKK spreading this threatening letter, we
cannot allow this to continue unchallenged.”

“The Fairfax County NAACP, in the
strongest way possible, denounces these flyers from the KKK that have been seen
in our neighborhood,” the organization states. “The flyer, specifically
targeting the Fairfax County school board with racist, Antisemitic, and
anti-LGBTQIA+ language has no place in society.”

“This shameful flyer is a reminder of
the hatred that still exists within our country today,” the NAACP says. “We
call upon the members of our communities to continue to denounce and stand up
to hateful rhetoric against marginalized communities.”

Anyone who receives one of these flyers
should contact the Fairfax County Police Department, 703-691-2131, FCPDChief@FairfaxCounty.
