Ravensworth ES gets a new principal

Ravensworth Elementary School in North Springfield has a new principal, as of Aug. 14: Erika Aspuria.

Aspuria is the former assistant principal at Lynbrook Elementary School and before that held the same position at Little Run Elementary.

She began her career with Fairfax County Public Schools at Forestdale Elementary, where she taught English for speakers of other languages and was lead teacher of the SOL afterschool remediation program.

She also taught first grade at Beech Tree Elementary School in Mason District.

Aspuria earned a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education at Lenoir-Rhyne University in North Carolina, a masters degree in teaching English as a second language at the University of North Carolina, and an education specialist in educational leadership and policy studies degree at Virginia Tech.
