Real Food for Kids hands out free pizzas in Annandale
Real Food for Kids has been handing out free pizzas every weekend in Annandale for the past two months to help families struggling with food insecurity during the coronavirus pandemic.
The group had 300 pizzas to give away Saturday afternoon at the ACCA Child Development Center in Annandale and will distribute 250 more beginning at 2:30 p.m. today at John Calvin Presbyterian Church, 6531 Columbia Pike.

The personal-size pizzas – veggies on a whole-wheat crust – are from Pizzeria Paradiso. Many people at ACCA were picking up four to six to feed their families.
The pizza giveaways start at 2:30 at both locations – ACCA on Saturdays and John Calvin Presbyterian Church on Sundays – and will continue until all the pizzas are gone.
Real Food for Kids is also selling Pizzeria Paradiso Pizza Kits as part of a fundraiser to help families in need. For a $50 donation, you get all the ingredients for two 12-inch pizzas and help Real Food for Kids feed four people. The kits can be preordered and picked up at either of the two pizza distribution events.
Real Food for Kids was started by a group of Fairfax County parents alarmed by the obesity epidemic and wanted school cafeterias to provide healthier meals. The organization has since expanded to promote nutrition education for children.
