Recent crimes: assault, DWI, stolen car
The Fairfax County Police Department reports the following crimes in the Mason Police District:
A man walking in the 3400 block of Lake Street in Bailey’s Crossroads, shortly before 1 a.m. on July 12, was approached by a group of individuals who assaulted him, stole his personal property, and ran away. There were no reported injuries.
An officer attempted to stop a 2017 Acura sedan for a traffic stop on Little River Turnpike at Old Columbia Pike in Annandale shortly before 1 a.m. on July 12. The driver refused to stop. After a police pursuit, the driver pulled into a parking lot and was taken into custody. Rover Hernandez Gomez, 20, of Annandale, was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, eluding, and driving on a suspended license.
Police recovered a stolen car in the 5800 block of Columbia Pike, Bailey’s Crossroads. An officer located a 2004 Toyota Camry that had previously been reported as stolen as it pulled into a parking lot at about 6:15 p.m. on July 13. Four juveniles were taken into custody. Charges are pending.
