Recent crimes: assault, trespassing, and burglary
Trujillo Ramirez, 51, of Falls Church; Ricky Santiago, 58, no fixed address; Gilberto Amaya Quezada, 63, of Falls Church; Irvin Quintanilla, 34, of Falls Church; and Juan Villacorto Benitez, 30, of Falls Church, were arrested and charged with trespassing.
There was an aggravated assault incident at about 12:40 a.m. Oct. 27 in the 4100 block of Wadsworth Court in Annandale.
The victim was walking home from the store when he was approached by five men. Three of them took him to a laundry room in the Fairmont Gardens apartments and assaulted him to the point where he lost consciousness.
The victim woke up to one of the men pointing a gun at him while another had a knife, threatening to hurt him if he called police. The attackers left the area.
Four Bailey’s Crossroads businesses were burglarized in the night of Oct. 23 or 24. A safe was stolen from the GNC store at 3523 S. Jefferson Street, money was stolen from a safe at the Subway on 3529 S. Jefferson Street, and cash was taken from Z Kabob at 3529 S. Jefferson Street. Employees at the Carter’s store at 5841 Crossroads Circle reported that someone broke into the store and tried to get into the safe and cash register but nothing was missing.
This is getting to be overwhelmingly troubling. Bailey's Crossroad will never realize a renaissance as long as this type of crime persists as it has. What is the Mason supervisor doing to thwart this? Arresting these probable illegals is a good thing but not the solution as long as the Culmore area exists as a ghetto for illegals to harbor more illegals. The Culmore section 8 housing projects need to be bulldozed. The Mason residents are fed up with the inaction of the County government to make the necessary changes to mitigate this issue of concentrating the poor and illegals in Mason District. Enough is enough. Penny Gross get off your butt and do something.
The fact that you have a piece of paper and someone else does not have that piece of paper doesn't mean the other person is a criminal or even that they are likely to be a criminal. You're making a lot of (repugnant) assumptions, and it betrays your ignorance.
Why dont you take that piece of paper, put your address on it and leave it in Culmore. I am certain you will have allot of unwanted visitors. What a stupid thing to say in your reply.
We have had ongoing issues in Culmore, Baileys and 7 Corners for years. The current supervisor has been in office for 20 some odd years and the area has not prospered, instead it continues on a downward spiral wint an increase of crime and vacancies, and lack of new commercial and residential development. I am afraid you may be the ignorant one, blind or just juiced up w bias propoganda.
You realize that Ellie is mostly just posting crime in Mason, right? If you go to the blotter from which she sources most of this, there’s crime all over Fairfax. Just because she posts it here doesn’t make it overwhelming.
Then what accounts for the lack of substantial new development investments in our area? The rest of Fairfax is booming, as are areas adjacent to Mason. Stop making excuses for inept leadership.
Can we get back to the part where you want to bulldoze peoples homes because they’re all criminals and illegals? Dont try and soft pedal this into a “woe is me I don’t have development immediately walking distance from my house.”
We will move this next door to you. In fact I heard you have rooms for rent. Section 8 can be very lucrative.
If you want Penny out of office–and I understand why you do–then run against her, or actively support someone who can unseat her. Complaining without action will get you NOWHERE. Are you waiting for Superman to swoop down from the heavens to rescue you? Then get over it; he ain't comin'.
