Recent crimes: Reckless discharge, robbery
The Fairfax County Police Department reports the following recent crimes in the Annandale/Mason District area:
Several community members reported hearing gunfire at the Fairmont Gardens apartments on Wadsworth Court in Annandale at about 7 p.m. on Jan. 29 and saw a potential suspect leaving the area on foot. When officers found the man, a 27-year-old from Maryland, he provided them with false information.
Officers arrested him for reckless handling of a firearm, false identification to law enforcement, illegal possession of a firearm, and resisting arrest. They also served him with an outstanding warrant for failure to appear on a felony charge.
On Feb. 2, at 11 p.m., a man was assaulted at Willston Drive and John Marshall Drive in Seven Corners. The assailant implied he had a firearm and took property. No injuries were reported.
Another robbery victim was approached in a parking lot by two men in a black car in the 2900 block of Patrick Henry Drive in Seven Corners shortly after 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 31. The two men got out of the car, produced a handgun, took property, and fled the area.
The Giant at the Seven Corners Shopping Center was robbed shortly after 12 p.m. on Jan. 30. A man entered the store, produced a knife, and took merchandise.
