Registered sex offender lives on McWhorter Place, Annandale, Va.
The Virginia State Police Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry put out a community notification Sept. 2 about Mondell Wheaton Crew, a registered sex offender living at 7600 McWhorter Place, T2A, in Annandale, Va.
Crew, age 47, was convicted of aggravated sexual battery in 1998 and is considered violent. He is described as a black male; 5’ 9”, 190 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He has also used the names Bishop Crew and Mondell W. Crews. He works at CCC Cleaning Services in Falls Church.
Individuals are listed on the registry for public information purposes. Using information on the sex offender registry to intimidate or harass an offender is prohibited by law.

I know some people may think it is not right to post these, but I couldn't be more grateful to you for the service you are doing to the community – especially those with children.

The purpose of the public notification program is to alert residents about the presence of sex offenders in their neighborhoods. According to the VA State Police, it is legal to post these notices in public places, such as bulletin boards in local businesses – so it should be okay to post them online. If someone presents a valid argument for not doing this, I will stop.
You have the right to post this under the 1st Amendment…it is just a question of whether or not you care about the privacy of a few vs the greater good. With something like privacy, the right to which is not guaranteed in this country when you commit a felony, the greater good must prevail.
