Registration open for Taste of Annandale pet contest

Registration is now open for the best-dressed pet contest at the Taste of Annandale, a street festival Saturday, Oct. 13.

The pet contest, sponsored by Chico’s Natural Pet Market of Barcroft Plaza, will take place at about 2 p.m. on the stage. All participants will receive a valuable gift bag from Chico’s. There is no cost to enter.

Last-minute entries will also be accepted on the day of the event at Chico’s booth at the Taste of Annandale until 1 p.m.  Only dogs with a valid registration will be able to participate. The contest isn’t limited to dogs, however; any pet can compete.

There are three categories: overall best costume; most creative (handmade or last-minute outfit); and best duo, group, or look alike (two or more dressed-up pets or a combination of pets and people).

The winners will be selected by a panel of professional judges: Teri Thorsteinson, the owner of Coco the Couture Cat; Diane Roadcap, the animal communicator; and Giovanna Di Biccari, the creator of the Embark! TV YouTube channel and the owner of Willie, who’s running for mayor of Annan-tail.

If you need some inspiration, check out the pet costumes at Chico’s (6349 A Columbia Pike, Falls Church).
