Registration underway for the Senior Olympics

Seniors are invited to show off their athletic and mental skills at the 2025 Northern Virginia Senior Olympics Sept. 13-30.
There are more than 70 events, including sports, such as pickleball and power walking, and leisure activities, like Scrabble and crossword puzzles.

The fee is $20 per athlete for an unlimited number of events. Golf, bowling, cycling, and orienteering have additional fees.
Competitors must be 50 years old by Dec. 31, 2025.
Three new events were added this year: duplicate bridge, 50-yard butterfly swim, and Texas hold’em poker.
Events are held at 30 different venues throughout Northern Virginia.
Events in the Annandale/Mason District area include the following:
- Cribbage – Lincolnia Senior Center, Sept. 19, 1 p.m.
- Football throw – Wakefield Park, Sept. 17, 10 a.m.
- Frisbee throw – Wakefield Park, Sept. 17, 11:30 a.m.
- Line dancing – Lincolnia Senior Center, Sept. 26, 10 a.m.
- Mexican train dominoes – Goodwin House of Bailey’s Crossroads, Sept. 16, 10 a.m.
- Pool, eight ball – Lincolnia Senior Center, Sept. 15, 11 a.m. (women); Sept. 16, 10 a.m. (men).
- Pool, nine ball – Lincolnia Senior Center, Sept. 15, 1 p.m. (women); Sept. 17, 10 a.m. (men).
- Racquetball – Audrey Moore Rec Center, Sept. 22, 9 a.m.
- Softball hit – Wakefield Park, Sept. 17, 11:30 a.m.
- Softball throw – Wakefield Park, Sept. 17, 10 a.m.
- Tennis – Wakefield Park, singles, Sept. 15, 9:30 a.m. (ages 50-69); Sept. 16 (70-79), 9 a.m.; Sept. 17, 9 a.m. (80+); singles finals, Sept. 18, 9 a.m. (70+). Doubles, Sept. 25, 9 a.m. (50-69); doubles, Sept. 16, 9 a.m. (70+).
Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals will be awarded after all events.
The opening ceremony is Sept. 13, 9:30 a.m., at the Thomas Jefferson Community Center in Arlington.
