Retro video game store, Super Bit, is moving to Annandale

Super Bit, a shop specializing in retro video games, is moving from Falls Church to the Heritage Shopping Center in Annandale.
Super Bit will take up two empty storefronts next to Hmart on Heritage Drive. Owner Chris Jackson is aiming for a soft opening on Dec. 1.
The store has to move because its current building, at the corner of Washington Street and Broad Street, will be demolished to make way for a mixed-use development. The new project will include a Whole Foods grocery store, 339 residential units, ground-floor retail, space for the Creative Cauldron performing arts venue, and a public plaza.
After working for the government for years, Jackson wanted to try something new. His hobby was retro video games, so he founded Super Bit in 2020.
Super Bit’s focus is on retro games like those for the original Nintendo 64 from 1996 and PlayStation 3 systems, Jackson says. The most popular games are Super Mario 64 and Mario Kart.
“Tons of people love that stuff,” he says. “People have tremendous nostalgia for the older games. You can pop them in and play them right away. Today’s video games take two hours to download.”
According to its website, Super Bit also carries “some modern video games, toys, VHS tapes, and basically anything we deem ‘cool’ and on-theme.”
People who bring in old video games can get cash or store credit.
Cool. I’ve seen the “moving to Annandale” banner on the store but couldn’t work out where in Annandale. Thanks!
