Roundtree Park improvements to be completed next week

Most of the improvements underway at Roundtree Park in Annandale are expected to be finished on June 10, according to the Park Authority.
The improvements include the following:
- Renovation of the picnic shelter and bathrooms to comply with accessibility standards.
- A new playground for children age 5-12 and a new tot lot for ages 2-5.
- Repaved trails in the stream valley and around the picnic shelter and tennis courts.
- New paving around the fields.
- Resurfacing of the parking lot and grading to ensure the lot is accessible for people with disabilities.
- A new path from the parking lot to the shelter.
- New picnic tables will replace the chess tables.
- Resurfaced basketball courts.

A new bridge over Cow Branch, a tributary of Holmes Run, will take another two months to complete. That bridge is near the end of Putnam Street.
Funding for the $1.3 million project is from a park bond passed by voters in 2016. The Park Authority Board approved the scope of the project in March 2019.

These improvements have been great! We really enjoyed taking my son to enjoy the new playground and he had a blast.
