Saturday, April 26, is National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.
Residents can drop off expired or unneeded prescription drugs at the parking
lot of the Mason District Police Station, 6507 Columbia Pike, Annandale, 10

When prescription medications are dropped off, they should be in their

It’s important to get these drugs out of your house to make sure they
don’t get into the wrong hands. Also, flushing them or tossing them in the
trash could pollute the ecosystem and harm wildlife.
Since the drug take-back initiative was started by the Drug Enforcement Agency in 2010, 1,733 tons of unwanted medications have been collected.
In Fairfax County, the drug take-back event is co-sponsored by the
Unified Prevention Coalition, Fairfax County Police Department, Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board, and the Office of Public Private Partnerships.
