Sardi’s set to open in Bailey’s Crossroads

Sardi’s Pollo A La Brasa, a Peruvian chicken restaurant,
could open in Bailey’s Crossroads by the end of the month. The restaurant is in
the Spectrum shopping center at 3400 Washington Drive.
Sardi’s specializes in chicken charbroiled on a charcoal
rotisserie. You can also get ceviche, lomo saltado, pollo saltado, burritos,
anticuchos (beef heart skewers), steak, salmon, shrimp skewers, sandwiches,
souvlaki, and much more.
Since the first Sardi’s opened in 2008 in Beltsville, Md., the
chain has expanded to 12 locations in Maryland and one in Pennsylvania. Another
one is coming to 1480 N. Beauregard St., in Alexandria’s West End.

Great news for the DUMP. Finally something we can use, the menu sounds fantastic. Cannot wait to stop by and get some of their goodies.
I drive by this shopping center daily and the way the store were built facing away from route 7 always gives me impression that the stores are closed.
I never think about going in.

half the center is, the issue is that the doors open from the back so if you are on 7, it all looks closed. totally dumb design that the County pushed.
This is not dumb design at all. It is designed to recreate the look and feel of a retail center with pedestrian friendly sidewalks. It is way better than the traditional large parking lot IN FRONT of the store.
"recreate" is the problem here. you can't create something that doesn't make sense. enough people don't walk down 7" to shop to justify it.
Someday this will and we have to start somewhere. Look at the pedestrian activity from Trader Joes to Route 7 and Panera, its almost civil. Pedestrian activity needs to be encouraged. Put away your car keys, reduce your carbon footprint and walk a bit before you have a heart attack.
its fine to have the center face out but then why have the doors in the back where one has to walk around the center to get in? if you want people walking to use it, doors should be facing the sidewalk
There are doors on both sides.
The T Mobile store and Blinds store do not have opening doors on both sides. Those doors are display only. Go to the center and try to open them. I tried and the people at T Mobile said its annoying as people can't find how to get to their store.
Sounds to me like an operational issue by the stores and not a planning issue.
nope, it was like this when the County passed it. The County required the fake doors on the front.

Honest question, how many Peruvian chicken places do we need around here? There are tons already. I don't understand why people are opening redundant businesses. What's the differentiator? What's the draw? Why did this business need to open in this particular location. Business case 101 questions. Are these chicken places money laundering fronts or something?

I often wonder the same thing. Certainly some are better than others but I don’t see how they all stay in business lacking something more differentiating. But hey, they’d fold if they couldn’t turn a profit so my guess is the market freakin LOVES pollo and there’s always room for one more.
Totally agree. We need diversity in our food, not the same old, same old.
There is plenty of diversity, go have some Korean fried chicken.
