  1. Actually, the correct term for that type of object is a "grotesque." A "gargoyle" is a similar object but it has a channel for water to come out of its mouth.

    Thus, a fountain has gargoyles if water comes from the mouths of the stone creatures. Gargoyles are also used as ornaments for dispersing rain water collected in eaves troughs (gutters on the roof).

    I've walked by this guy… he looks good!
