Scene around A-Town: A walking campaign ad

Jay Fadgen on Columbia Pike.
During this election season, some people are content to put
up a yard sign or bumper sticker. Annandale resident Jay Fadgen is taking a
more active approach – walking along Columbia Pike with a sandwich board
touting Hillary Clinton for president.
His board cites Clinton’s experience (secretary of state,
senator) and other reasons to support her (women’s rights, dedicated to families, fiscally
responsible, immigration reform, etc.). “Vote Smart! Vote Hillary!” the sign reads.

Sometimes Fadgen wears an alternative board with a “Trump’s
Chumps” message listing people deceived by Trump (employees, stockholders, contractors,
students, wives, etc.) and stating, “Don’t be a Chump – Vote for Hillary.”
Fadgen has been walking with a sandwich board in support of Democratic candidates just about every year since the John Kerry presidential campaign in 2004. He used to
walk along the median on Little River Turnpike and Hummer Road until last week,
when a police officer told him he couldn’t be there.
About 75 percent of the responses from the public have been
positive, Fadgen says, and women tend to be more enthusiastic. While we
were chatting, a pedestrian who said he had already voted for Trump stopped to engage in a polite conversation.

Fadgen calls his walking campaign message “a way I can have
an influence and maybe encourage people to vote.”

  1. Yeah I'm a bit perturbed by the silence. Say something about the meals tax to see if that'll get it going.

  2. Exercising and enjoying his freedom of speech. Let's keep America this way, independently of party affiliation and political views.

I wonder how many commenters would carry signs around with their beliefs written on it. Probably few.

  3. Minority for TRUMP right here!!
If only you all knew what REALLY happens at our borders (not what the media and politicians lie to you about- saying everything is fine) you would have great concern for our nation. Our laws are being stepped on, and our citizens are suffering. I have family at the border who works for Customs & Border Protection with first hand experiences in TX … he says the corruption of our politicians and media will slowly bleed this country. We are a nation of laws. Protect our citizens!
