If you’re stuck in a dead-end job and want to learn a new trade, check out Fairfax County Public Schools’ Adult and Community Education program.

FCPS ACE provides flexible, affordable, career-focused training and workforce readiness.

The program is offering $30,000 in scholarships to enable adults to take specialized apprenticeship classes, earn necessary licenses or certifications, and progress in their careers without financial strain.

The deadline to apply for scholarships for the spring semester is Dec. 31. Request an application from the ACE Foundation at [email protected].

ACE offers apprenticeship classes in such as areas as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, construction, and operating heavy equipment.

Health-related courses lead to certifications as a nurse aide, emergency medical technician, nutrition coach, medical billing and coding specialist, EKG technician, and more.

Examples of other career-related courses include autobody repair, home inspections, robotics tech, welding, biofuel production operations, real estate, nonprofit management, human resources, keyboarding, and much more. Some of the classes are virtual; others are in person.

The scholarship program is open to everyone. It has helped new Americans accelerate their career paths – by helping them launch new careers or enabling them to obtain the U.S. certifications needed for the professions they held in their home countries.

The scholarships also support single parents and young adults juggling work and education. Students can reapply for scholarships if they need more financial assistance, ensuring continuous support on their career paths.
