Schools will be closed on March 16

Fairfax County Public Schools will be closed on Monday, March 16, Superintendent Scott Brabrand announced this afternoon.

March 16 will be designated a staff development day to give educators an opportunity to prepare for the possibility of distance learning in case schools have to be closed due to the worsening spread of coronavirus.

Students will have the day off on Monday. SACC centers will be open. After-school extracurricular activities, including athletic practices and games, adult and community education classes, and non-FCPS recreation and other programs will be held. The middle school after-school program is canceled.
