  1. I don’t blame them….look at the area. Clean it up, modernize the place, and cater to multi-ethnic inividuals, not just Hispanic, Chinese, Korean, etc.

The store was dirty and that was a function of staff and those who frequent the location (some of their expectations).

  2. Horrendous location. Impossible to get in or out. Filthy. Crime ridden little shopping center. This is the parking lot where the DC snipers shot across 50 and murdered the female fbi employee walking out of Home Depot.

    1. Yes, but how long ago was that? The current state of the shopping center had nothing to do with what hapened over 10 years ago. The 2 snipers made their rounds in different neighborhoods!!!

      1. It’s WAY worse now compared to when the snipers used that parking lot. Just take a look at the neighbors app. There are robberies and assaults there all the time.

  3. It doesn’t help that the Target pharmacy across the street was bought out by CVS so there’s no reason to go into this location if you have other stuff to pick up. Why go to 2 locations when you can go to one and get everything you need in a single trip?

  4. Haven’t been to that CVS since about 2010. Used to like Mark’s Duck House for dim sum, but thought that plaza was kinda sketchy. These days when I drive by on 50, it looks like it ought to all be torn down and redeveloped. So maybe the CVS leaving makes a lot of sense.

    1. According to Yelp, Mark’s Duck House is open and getting good reviews. I’m going over there this weekend or next. Hoping it’s still a treat. Will skip the CVS 🙂

  5. K. What do you mean by cater to multi ethnic groups? I e been there. The signs are in English and I wasn’t intimidated because they have Salonoas and Hongo powder as well as Ben Gay and Dr. Schols.

  6. I see little difference. I worked at Monkey Wards* before Target/PetSmart. They were #2 nationwide for theft. They Puting in a very expensive security system. It never worked right. Tagged merchandise stocked anywhere near the 8 customer doors set off the system. I remember a junk car sat in the parking lot for about a month, where the bank is now. A bunch of gear heads I new thought it would be a public service to steal the engine. The police didn’t agree. There was a Safeway in a similar location. The section of stores that ends at Chick-fil-a/Cafe Rio was a vacant overgrown lot. The lot was a dumping ground including a 5’console TV with a 26″ screen(don’t laugh). If someone tried to smash the screen with a scrap 2×4 it would have shattered in m.. their hands. Around 1986 I was turning onto Williston Dr. from Patrick Henry. On the corner lying in the grass was a very skinny naked man. Of course my father, who was in the passenger seat, reached over and hit the horn. The guy stood up laughing and fell over sideways into the street(PCP?). I drove on.
And there use be a yearly carnival, with rides in the Wards/Target/PetSmart parking lot.
