Several businesses burglarized in past week

This week’s crime report from the Fairfax County Police Department includes several commercial burglaries in Mason District.

Someone forced their way into these businesses and took property: 

• Tensae Deli and Bakery, 5709A Center Lane, Bailey’s Crossroads – April 23, 5:17 a.m.
• Leyu Ethiopian Market, 5820E Seminary Road, Bailey’s Crossroads – April 23, 5:18 a.m. 
• El Catrin, a Salvadoran restaurant, 2930 Patrick Henry Drive, Seven Corners – April 24, 3:42 a.m. 
• Centro Market, 2930 Patrick Henry Drive, Seven Corners – April 24, 3:42 a.m. 
• AT&T store, 6645 Arlington Blvd., Falls Church – April 25, 12:14 a.m. 
• Bren Mar Deli, 5614 General Washington Drive, Alexandria – April 23, 5:12 a.m. 
• Subway, 5601 General Washington Drive, Alexandria – April 25, 4:10 a.m. 

Fairfax County police also helped capture a suspect wanted for a commercial burglary in Arlington. 

Arlington County police officers were following a suspect into Fairfax County on April 24, when the FCPD helicopter, K9 unit, and patrol officers joined the search and captured one of the suspects at 3:45 a.m. in Seven Corners.

Arlington police were doing burglary checks when they were alerted to a burglary in process in the 6000 block of Wilson Blvd. in Seven Corners. They observed a vehicle, later determined to be stolen, backed up in front of a business with both front doors open. The front window on the business had been broken. Three suspects then exited the business through the broken window carrying merchandise and a cash register.

When officers gave the command to stop, the suspects dropped the merchandise and fled on foot. Officers observed an individual running across Route 50 matching the description of one of the suspects, and the FCPS helicopter located him in the 6100 block of Brook Drive. 

That suspect, a juvenile, was turned over to the Arlington police. He faces charges of burglary, possession of stolen auto, conspiracy to commit two felonies, felony destruction of property, possession of stolen property, petit larceny, and underage possession of tobacco. The other two suspects remain at large. 

On April 28, Fairfax County Police recovered a stolen 2006 Toyota Prius shortly after 10:30 p.m. in the 3400 block of Carlin Springs Road in Bailey’s Crossroads. 

Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused and drove a short distance before striking a curb. The driver, a juvenile, ran away but was quickly apprehended. Charges are pending.
