18-year-old woman was assaulted and robbed at about 7 p.m. on Dec. 22 after she
exited a bus on Leesburg Pike and Rio Drive. A man grabbed her from behind,
threw her to the ground, took her purse, and ran away.

On Dec. 24, a 24-year-old man was walking on
the 3300 block of Glen
Carlyn Drive just before 2 a.m. when he was approached by a man who displayed a
knife and demanded money. The victim handed over an undisclosed amount of cash
and his cell phone. He was not injured.

Randolph Drive at about 7:40 p.m. on Dec. 24. A man stopped her and demanded

5 feet 9 inches, with a thin build, and was wearing black clothing.

A 55-year-old man was robbed on the 4800 block of Beauregard Street while walking to a friend’s house at around
11 p.m. on Dec. 25. The suspect displayed a handgun, took money and
property, and fled. He was described as white or Hispanic, 20 to 30 years old,
about 5 feet 2 to 5 feet 4 inches, and 130 to 140 pounds. He was wearing a
black jacket and his face was covered.

On Dec. 25, police responded to a report of a
crashed car with no driver in it at around 4 a.m. They located the man in a nearby
apartment complex and caught him after he attempted to flee. An investigation
identified him as the driver.

Roger Antoine Coleman, 22, of Annandale, was
arrested and taken to the Adult Detention Center. He was charged with driving
while intoxicated, driving on a suspended license, and resisting arrest. It was
his third DWI arrest in five years.

The rise in recent homicides and general criminal activity should be closely studied by our Supervisor and Chairman Bulova. Lax enforcement of occupancy codes and the sanctuary county/district position they favor is harming our safety and standard of living.
Exactly. I live in a 1 bedroom apartment with my husband and 5 month old. However, in the one bedroom above us live 6 adults! The one next to is live 3 adults and two minors. But the leasing office doesn't care as long as they get their rent money.
If you call the Department of Code Compliance, they should be of help to you. It is illegal to have that many people in a one-bedroom apartment. The leasing office may not care, but the county should. 703-324-1300 is the phone #.

I am so sick of your ignorant views! I, for one, am going to stop reading this site if I have to continue to see your negativity. Try doing something novel – like looking at real solutions vs. making sweeping allegations that are baseless. Generally speaking, illegal immigrants follow the letter of the law as they are afraid of being deported back to their homes. Did you read the notation above about one guy – white, another – black… Do you assume they are illegal or just ignore the fact that white people cannot possibly create criminal activity. FYI, before you try it, I am a 35 year-old, well-employed, white female who is also an Annandale resident. I certainly would like to see the crime reduced, but with ignorance such as yours about, I am not sure we will arrive at real solutions.

A real solution IS code compliance and enforcing the law. No need to be creative, just follow the law. Gross and Bulova don't do this. Good governance would be a step toward solving these problems.

Maybe the police can patrol these areas more rather than hiding at random intersection to give BS tickets to make their quotas. Serve and protect or make money?
Fairfax County police officers(and most of VA) do not have ticket quotas. The closest we have is some roads receive federal funds that may be contingent on specific enforcement standards by the state.
