Shop Annandale: gift ideas – part 2

Our first post highlighting places for holiday shopping in Annandale covered Hello Fancy, the Treasure Trove, Petco, and a comic book store. Here are four more Annandale stores to put on your shopping itinerary:

If you’re shopping for someone who likes to entertain, check out AnnSandra, 4417 John Marr Drive, an Annandale institution specializing in fine china, crystal, and giftware—with many items 20 percent less than the suggested retail price.

Among the gift possibilities are Vera Bradley bags (“Julia” pictured here is $52); Thymes products for indulging the body, such as lavender lotion ($20) and body wash ($16); a Santa platter ($99) and mug ($34) from Vietri, and jeweled picture frames ($104 for an oval and $140 for a rectangle).

Nora Fleming platters and serving dishes in various shapes ($36 to $40) can be personalized with interchangeable, colorful mini decorations, like a gingerbread man, bluebird, or umbrella ($10 each). If you drop by the store next Saturday, Dec. 11, 11 a.m.-4 p.m., you can meet Nora Fleming herself.

Auntie Te’s consignment shop in the Bradlick Shopping Center at the intersection of Backlick and Braddock roads, has a variety of gently worn women’s clothes, shoes, and accessories. Among the gems I found one day last week: a red Anne Klein purse for $22, a silver sequin dress from Banana Republic for $68, an elegant Dana Bachman blazer for $38, and a pair of nearly new black suede peep-toe pumps from Nine West for $24. If you’re looking for a hideous Christmas sweater, they had an over-the-top cardigan for $9.

The Amore, 4219 John Marr Drive, features cosmetics and skincare products from Korea, including the premium Sulwhasoo line of herbal products ($50 to $220 for cream with ginseng) and plant-based skincare items from Iope ($60 to $80). The shop offers Lolita Lempicka perfume and lotion gift sets for $69 to $80.

Then there’s Annandale’s department store, K-mart (4251 John Marr Drive), with gift items for just about anyone. Here are some possibilities from the Big K: a HoMedics massage cushion ($29.99), a talking Woody from “Toy Story 3” ($49.99), a Disney Princess or Spiderman 16-inch bicycle ($69.99), a jewelry boxed shaped like a cabinet ($59.99), an “NFL Huddler” blanket with sleeves ($19.99), and a kit with everything you need to make s’mores ($14.99).
