The race takes place Saturday, Sept. 21, at 9:30 a.m. It starts at the K Market parking lot, at 4239 John Marr Drive in Annandale.

The 5K precedes the Taste of Annandale, a family-friendly community festival, starting at 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 21 at the Eileen Garnett Civic Space at 7200 Columbia Pike.

The 5K is certified by USA Track & Field and is sponsored by RAMP Optimal Performance & Wellness. The course will be the same as last year. Runners will head along Columbia Pike, go through Mason District Park, and return along Columbia Pike to the K Market.

You don’t have to be a fast runner to participate in the Taste of Annandale 5K. Walkers are welcome, and you can also bring a stroller or dog.

The registration fee is $30 and increases to $35 after Aug. 31. The fee for runners aged 14 and younger is $20 and goes up to $25 after Aug. 31.

Medals will be awarded at the Taste of Annandale stage to the top three male and female runners and to the fastest participants in various age categories.

See if you can beat the fastest runner at the 2023 Taste of Annandale 5K, Kevin Zambrano, who completed the race in 19 minutes and 21.6 seconds. The fast female runner last year was Halei Benefield, with a time of 19:55:2.
