The Taste of Annandale is Sept. 21, 10:30 a.m.-6 p.m., at the Eileen Garnett Civic Space at 7200 Columbia Pike in central Annandale. It’s a huge event, with live music and dancing, a 5K run, lots of food vendors, a pet contest, a chili cookoff, and lots of tables hosted by local businesses and nonprofits.
Volunteers are needed to help out at the Taste of Annandale 5K run, including checking in runners at 9 a.m. and helping the runners stay on the course through Mason District Park.
The 5K starts at 9:30 at the K Market parking lot at 4239 John Marr Drive. After the race, volunteers will need to escort the winners to the main stage at the Taste of Annandale where the medals will be given out.
Other volunteers are needed for the Taste of Annandale children’s program, which will take place outdoors at the ACCA Child Development Center. The children’s activities, organized by the CDC, include performances, face painting, games, and crafts.

Additional volunteers are needed to help out with whatever needs to be done at the main event, such as making sure the vendors know where to set up and that they have everything they need, ensuring the entertainment and pet contest run smoothly, monitoring the entry point on Columbia Pike, and advising the organizers of any issues that might arise.
For high school students, volunteering at the Taste of Annandale is a great way to earn community service hours.
It’s also a good opportunity for Scout troops to show their support for the community. The minimum age is 14.
Crowd control and security will be handled by the Mason District Police Station.
