Sleepy Hollow Elementary gets a new principal
Mirnaly Vega starts a new job as principal of Sleepy Hollow Elementary School on July 5. She succeeds Mattie Fallen, who is retiring after 26 years with Fairfax County Public Schools.
Vega has been the assistant principal at Bailey’s Elementary School for the Arts and Sciences since 2019. Before that, she was the assistant principal at Westgate Elementary School in Tysons.
According to the announcement by FCPS Region 2, “Ms. Vega brings a holistic approach to education, taking time to listen, respond thoughtfully, and adjust to the needs of students, parents, and the community.”
The announcement says Vega “is passionate about ensuring a school’s climate is respectful, inclusive, and culturally responsive. She recognizes that sustaining family engagement through transparent communication is the key to building trusting relationships and ensuring that every family has equitable access to resources.”
She was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, and raised primarily in New York.
