Speed of Sound brings Paul McCartney’s music to Mason District Park
Speed of Sound is fronted by Jed Duvall, who also has tribute bands for Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley, notes Bob Kovacs, who recorded the song for the Annandale Arts You Tube channel.
“All My Loving” was recorded by the Beatles in 1963 (50 years ago!). It was never actually released as a single in the United States, but enough copies were imported from Canada that the song eventually reached well into the Top 100 here, Kovacs says.
Of course, the Beatles completely dominated the music charts in the U.S. in 1964 and 1965. During the week of April 4, 1964, at the time “All My Loving” was being imported into the U.S, the Beatles held all top five positions on the Billboard charts, a feat that probably will never be matched, Kovacs notes. At the same time, the Beatles had eight other records in the Top 100, including “All My Loving.”
“After hearing about the latest behavioral issues from today’s pop stars, it’s easy to forget just how overwhelming the Beatles were in their day,” he adds. And how many of today’s pop stars will people still be listening to in 50 years?
That is awesome – sorry we missed this!!
Thank you for putting the link on the story–I just printed it out for the rest of the summer. My daughter and i went to one of the shows a couple of weeks ago and it was a fun hour for us, and didn't cost anything. Then we got ice cream and drove downtown to look at the monuments by starlight. We really had a good time.
