Staff move in to new fire station in Seven Corners

The Fort Buffalo Fire Station has finally been completed. The Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department posted a short video on Facebook on March 20 showing staff moving in.
A grand opening is expected to be scheduled in May.
Fire Station 28, at 2949 Sleepy Hollow Road in Seven Corners, was completely demolished and replaced with a new, larger building. During construction, the station operated out of a temporary structure at South Street and Annandale Road in Falls Church.
The new 13,500-square-foot building has three apparatus bays. The old fire station, built in 1975, was 8,500 square feet and had two bays.

The Fort Buffalo Fire Station has accommodations for female staff, a kitchen, a decontamination area, a fire pole, energy-saving features, a stormwater management system, and a storage outbuilding.
The Fairfax County Planning Commission approved the $13 million project in 2023.
Formerly known as the Seven Corners Fire Station, its name was changed to Ford Buffalo in 2023 to reflect the history of the community. During the Civil War, there was an earthwork fortification on the site called Fort Buffalo built by the 21st New York Infantry of the Union Army.
