Stein Mart plans to open a store this spring in the spot vacated by Loehmann’s 7271 Arlington Blvd., Falls Church. Loehmann’s closed Feb. 23 after the discount retail chain went out of business.
Stein Mart sells women’s and men’s clothing, shoes, accessories, and home decor items. The company has more than 260 stores across the nation and plans to open 10 more this spring. There are two Stein Mart stores in Northern Virginia, in Chantilly and Leesburg.
A Feb. 25 news release from the Jacksonville, Fla., company says the plan to open stores in former Loehmann’s locations in Miami and the Washington, D.C., area is “an example of Stein Mart’s aggressive real estate strategy focused on securing strategically important retail locations in targeted growth areas.” These locations were selected because of their “attractive, high-traffic appeal where the company’s core customer-based has been underserved.”
