The brief hail storm Thursday evening knocked down trees all over the Annandale/Mason District.
There’s another truck buried under those branches on Chaco Road in Parklawn. |

Lake Barcroft was hit particularly hard with downed trees and power lines blocking several roads and some residents are still without power.
“It’s about the strongest I’ve seen since I have been here in 40 years,” resident George Erikson told WTOP. “It’s the first time I ever went into the basement to wait it out.”
Another Lake Barcroft resident, Larry Golfer, compared the intense storm to the derecho in 2012.
Power is still out for about 100 homes, and Dominion is promising to restore power between 3 p.m. and 8 a.m.
A limb fell straight down into the roof of a neighbor’s house, Golfer said, piercing the roof and landing in the dining room.
Did you hear about the tree that came down on Gallows Rd, near Trammell Rd? It landed on a car and I was hoping to hear news that the occupant was ok. It didn't look good. Gallows Rd was closed for a few hours last night.
