Students at Phillips School bring holiday cheer to those in need

During the month of December, students at Annandale’s Phillips Program for Children and Families participated in several activities to support the community and bring holiday cheer to those in need.

Students assembled 50 stockings, filled with toiletries and treats, for the Operation Santa program. The stockings were mailed to Marines serving overseas in Unit 73915.  Students also put together bundles of holiday cards that wounded veterans at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda can use to send holiday messages to their friends and family.

Phillips staff and family members donated 22 grocery store gift cards to ensure families in need will be able to have a wonderful holiday meal. In addition, the Phillips student council sponsored a mitten and scarf tree. The new winter accessories they collected will be donated to a local charity to ensure the needy will be warm this winter.

The Phillips Program, based at 7010 Braddock Road, Annandale, provides individualized education to children with special needs along with support services, including therapeutic foster care, home-based counseling, and hands-on vocational training.
