The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors on July 13 approved a rezoning application to allow the trustees of Annandale United Methodist Church to expand services at their Heritage Mission Center at 7901 Heritage Drive.
The property had been split-zoned C-5 and R-20. The supervisors agreed to have the whole property zoned C-5, which would allow the church to operate a community resource center, which is considered a “public benefit association.”
The Heritage Mission Center has been providing a food pantry and clothes closet for community residents, most of whom live within walking distance.

The new zoning designation will enable the center to expand those services and also provide healthcare screenings, medical and dental services, and educational assistance. The center recently hosted a COVID vaccination clinic.
