A new 67-unit townhouse development behind Heritage Mall in Annandale moved a step closer to reality, as the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors approved a rezoning application for the project Dec. 6. No one from the community testified at the public hearing before the vote.
The applicants, MHI-Heritage LLC and Bristow Shopping Center LTD (entities formed by the Webb Cos.), proposed rezoning the 11-acre site from C-6 to PDC. The site is currently occupied by an underutilized parking lot and a 7-Eleven.
The applicants agreed to establish a community center within the retail center, as well as make some improvements in parking, drainage, and pedestrian accessibility.
“The community center is a big deal,” said Supervisor John Cook at the BoS hearing. It’s badly needed in the area” and will serve as a Korean senior center, as well as a meeting place for scouts and other community groups.
What's the count on Korean senior centers now in Mason?
Do you have to be of Korean decent, or a Korean National, to use the new community center?
No. A variety of community groups will be able to use it.
