The Board of Supervisors on July 27 agreed to hold a public hearing on the need to use quick-take eminent domain powers for a sewer project in Seven Corners.
The hearing is scheduled for Sept. 14.
The project calls for the construction of a slipline sewer primarily along Celadon Lane. The new sewer would replace approximately 1,700 linear feet of defective 6-inch sanitary sewer pipes.
The project requires the acquisition of sanitary sewer easements, a grading agreement, and temporary construction easements.
The Land Acquisition Division has already acquired land rights for eight of the 27 affected properties and is in negotiations with the other owners. County staff say they need to use eminent domain to keep the project on schedule.
