In the Annandale/Mason area, band students from
Annandale High School, Falls Church High School, and Stuart High School, will
all pounding the pavement this Saturday. Please be generous. Your tax-deductible donation
will help pay for uniforms, scholarships, guest clinicians, music, and other things
not covered by the Fairfax County Public Schools or student fees.

Band students from different high schools won’t competing with one another; they are confining their Tag Day activities
to their school’s attendance area.
There’s an exception for the Wakefield Chapel
neighborhood, however. While the boundary change approved by the school board
in 2011 shifted Wakefield Chapel from Annandale High School to the Woodson
High School attendance area, most of the juniors and seniors who live there chose
to stay at AHS. As a result, the Woodson and Annandale Tag Day coordinators agreed to share the neighborhood on Tag Day.

“Those of you who marched with the Atoms, or with
your own high school band, especially will remember the benefits of music
education in high school,” added a member of the Annandale Band Boosters. “Band
programs depend on generosity and support from the community.”
