Sushi/Thai restaurant opens in Pinecrest Plaza

Akeno Sushi Bar & Thai is now open in Pinecrest Plaza on Little River Turnpike.

The restaurant features Thai cuisine, as well as traditional sushi, as the co-owners Eakachai (Sean) Promsiri and Anawat Jaithum are both originally from Thailand.

Everything is made with fresh ingredients, says Jaithum. Highlights include uni (sea urchin roe) imported from Japan, bluefin tuna, and otoro tuna. The popular red dragon roll has shrimp, avocado, cucumber, fish roe, and eel sauce.

Among the entrees: ka prow beef, panang curry chicken, and salmon teriyaki.
Akeno is at 6550F Little River Turnpike.
The bar isn’t open yet; they’re still waiting for an ABC license.
