Suspicious death in Culmore area
There was “trauma to the upper body,” according to the announcement in the police blotter. “Police are investigating this as a suspicious death. However there is nothing to indicate any threat to the general public. The exact manner and cause of death will be determined the Office of the Medical Examiner.”

Update issued by the police department on Sept. 2: After contacting the victim’s relatives in Guatemala, the police identified him as Filaberto Felipe Paz Ramirez, 27, of 6001 Knollwood Drive. Police are now investigating
this case as a homicide,” following an autopsy. “Upon further investigation, police can no longer rule out the
possibility that this is a random act.”
Crime Solvers will pay $1,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment.
Great, just what this area needs now… killings. Wasn't there two robberies and/or assaults in the same vicinity several weeks ago. What is with the uptick in violent crime. Let's hope the police increase patrols and be proactive and not allow things to get out of hand before doing anything. There is more information to include video on the WJLA 7 website.
This is what happens when an area is overcrowded. Too many people in one space is never a good idea for many reasons. Our Mason District Supervisor needs to get this area cleaned up and enforce the housing laws.
