Swim school to replace Merrifield Staples

The Staples in the Yorktown Shopping Center, at Gallows Road and Arlington Boulevard in Merrifield, will close on April 9, an employee confirmed.

A Kids First Swim School franchise is slated to move into that space, possibly as early as next September, states a company spokesperson. A Kids First location opened in the Ravensworth Shopping Center a few months ago.

Staples is seeking approval from federal regulators to acquire Office Depot. The company closed 230 Staples stores in North America in 2014 and 2015. Office Depot has closed hundreds of locations across the country after merging with Office Max in 2013 and plans to close 400 more by the end of 2016.
