Taco Rock to open next month in Pinecrest Plaza
Taco Rock is expected to open in mid-December in Pinecrest Plaza, reports Nick Cordero, a co-owner with this father, chef Mike Cordero, and chef Stefano Marzano.
The opening, originally scheduled for last spring, was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic. “The virus set us back,” Nick Cordero says. “We’re still waiting on some permits.”

It’s the Macnac Group’s second Taco Rock restaurant. The first one, in Rosslyn, opened in October 2019. “We were able to stay afloat by doing a lot of delivery and to-go and by changing our business model a bit,” he says.
The Rosslyn restaurant has runners and a bartender but no waitstaff. Customers order at a kiosk or cashier. Beer, wine, and cocktails are available for takeout. The new restaurant will offer the same approach and menu, offering classic and innovative tacos made with blue corn tortillas. Other items include ceviche, poppers, and for dessert, ice-cream stuffed churros.

The new restaurant, at 6548 Little River Turnpike just east of Annandale, will have seating for about 150 people, including a large outdoor patio and a tequila bar. The front of the restaurant will have garage doors, so the indoor/outdoor dining areas will be connected.
“We’re excited to be in that neighborhood,” Cordero says of the Pinecrest location.
Taco Rock is the third new tenant at Pinecrest Plaza in recent months, following the Lidl grocery store and Granddaddy’s Skillet.
Long term, the partners are planning about 10 more Taco Rock restaurants over the next five years in Northern Virginia. They also have several other restaurants, including Barley Mac, the G.O.A.T., and Don Tito in Arlington.

I called it "east of Annandale," although the post office address is Alexandria and it's a little closer to Lincolnia than Annandale. If you live in that area, what do you say when someone asks where you live?
