As of 3:17 p.m., Rep. Gerry Connolly’s (D) lead over Keith Fimian (R) has widened to 968 votes. Connolly had 111,695 (49.22 percent), and Fimian had 110,727 (48.76 percent). Election update: Connolly’s margin expands but recount possible
Votes from two malfunctioning voting machines in Virginia’s 11th district have been counted, and Rep. Gerry Connolly’s lead over Keith Fimian has expanded to about 820 votes. Since the margin is less than 1 percent, Fimian can request a recount but must wait until the election results are certified.

Annandale voters contribute to Connolly’s victory
