The 5K Fun Run, the opening activity of the Taste of Annandale June 13, is called the “Diamond Dash” for a special reason: Two
runners will receive a half-carat diamond prize.
The diamonds, provided by Taste of Annandale title sponsor
Lambros Goldsmiths, will be presented to two 5K participants selected randomly
after the race. Only runners who have registered will receive a raffle ticket.

The sidewalk in the picture took a large crew over a month to carve it out of the hill running along Columbia Pike. I don't even want to think about how much money was spent on excavation, paving and building the retaining wall. It would be nice if the presumably outrageous cost were worth it. However, I have yet to see a pedestrian actually using that sidewalk.
Great comment. No doubt you are the same commenter that cried in horror on the report of a pedestrian being struck and killed on this stretch of Columbia Pike; claiming it was all "heartless" Penny Gross's fault that Fairfax County did not have sidewalks for pedestrians in this area; and Penny needed to resign immediately in disgrace, or face being replaced in the next election by a newer, prettier, version of a bleeding heart Liberal.
Commenters like you who offer nothing but complaints should be out front trying to sell your ideas for making the world around us a better place, and be held responsible for the good and bad events that happen regardless of whether you had a role in the events taking place.
This is what I heard when I read your comment — Whaaaaaaaa…..Whineeeeeee…….
You do realize that your comment offered nothing but a complaint, right?
Sidewalks are beneficial not just now but in the future.
