Two teens were arrested Jan. 24 after stealing a car, crashing it, then attempting to carjack another one in the Springfield area of Mason District, the Fairfax County Police Department reports.

Andonis Martinez Turcios, 19, and a 17-year-old, both of Alexandria, were captured with help from the FCPD helicopter, Fairfax 1.

According to the FCPD, the teens stole a Honda Accord from the driveway of a Prince William County home. They then drove to the 6700 block of Hopewell Avenue in Springfield, where they crashed into several parked cars, causing the stolen car to break down.

The suspects left the car behind and approached a woman who was sitting in her sedan in the 5000 block of Blacksburg Road. They took out a knife in an effort to steal her car but were unsuccessful and immediately ran away.

As officers searched for the suspects on the ground, Fairfax 1 spotted a man matching the lookout description walking on a trail in the woods. When approached by officers, he immediately gave up and was taken into custody. Patrol officers caught the other suspect in the 6800 block of Commercial Drive.

Martinez Turcios was charged with attempted carjacking, gang participation, possession of stolen property, and hit and run. The 17-year-old boy was charged with attempted carjacking, gang participation, possession of stolen property, and failure to report an accident.

  1. Its a shame the woman on Blacksburg Rd did not have a fire are than she could of taken matter into her hands. It would have been the last bad decision these two would ever make.
