Increased production of COVID-19 vaccines means Fairfax County can step up its vaccination efforts.
President Biden said on March 2 that every adult in the U.S. who wants a vaccination will be able to get one by the end of May, two months sooner than previously announced.
The Virginia Department of Health is receiving the newly approved single-dose vaccine from Johnson & Johnson, but it hasn’t been determined yet how many doses Fairfax County will get and how those doses will be distributed.
Meanwhile, the Fairfax County Health Department’s partnership with Giant pharmacy has expanded to include three more locations, including Giant stores at 7137 Columbia Pike in Annandale, 6200 Little River Turnpike in Lincolnia, and 3480 S. Jefferson St. in Bailey’s Crossroads.

Vaccinators at those pharmacies are only serving people who registered through the Fairfax County Health Department. Anyone who is eligible for a vaccine and hasn’t yet registered can do so here.
According to the Fairfax County vaccination dashboard, the county has completed sending vaccination appointment notices to people on the waitlist who registered on Jan. 18 and has now moved on to people who signed up on Jan. 19.
More than 42,000 people registered on Jan. 18, the first day the 65+ population could register, and 17,929 registered on Jan. 19.
As of Tuesday night, 273,507 people registered for a vaccination, and 97,266 people are still on the waitlist. During the period Feb. 22-28, the Department of Health received 16,380 doses from the state and administered 18,843 first doses.

People who have trouble getting to a vaccination appointment can get help from one of several local organizations, including the Shepherd’s Center of Annandale-Springfield. Anyone age 50 or older can call the center at 703-941-1419 to arrange for transportation to a vaccination site.
The county is also providing free rides via taxi companies to anyone with a vaccine appointment who does not have access to their own transportation. To schedule a ride, contact the Health Department Vaccine Call Center at 703-324-7404, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Sleepy Joe is a miracle worker!
its ok,
now with offices changed, COVID is no longer a threat.
We can go back working for China and Ukraine.
LOL
Our retarded country is still handling vaccine requests from early January and they have the audacity to talk about "seeing the end"
Get your freaking act together and start vaccinating the population already.
go out in tracks and vans and vaccine people on the streets instead of seating on your asses!
We are a long way from the end of the pandemic and there is little to brag about. Just under 5% of the world's population is in the US but we have 25% of all reported coronavirus cases. It's not even clear that we are at the beginning of the end of the pandemic.
In addition, let's not forget that millions of people in the US who have contracted the virus will spend the rest of their lives dealing with serious health problems. And millions more will be dealing with the loss of co-workers, friends, and family for many years to come. The pandemic has also been very detrimental to the education of young people.
However, it is true that vaccine administration is beginning to pick up and that is good news. Still, we have a long way to go. Let's hope that people continue to wear masks and exercise restraint about congregating in groups. With that and greater vaccine availability, we may be able to talk about the end being sight by early fall.
There's just too many stupid humans on this beautiful earth doing dumb ass things & we can't seem to stop boinking each other & producing more numbskulls that seem to be even more clueless about what their idiotic actions will cause to humanity. This is just the beginning. Just wait, more deadly viruses caused by human behavior are coming.
