The Parliaments: more like a community than just an apartment complex

At the Taste of Annandale table at The Parliaments Open House: Taste of Annandale Steering Committee chair Rev. Clarence Brown and event manager Glenda Olmeda.

An open house at The Parliaments May 2 brought together residents and potential tenants with a live broadcast from radio station WKYS, kids’ activities, food, and fun.

The Parliaments is more like a community than just an apartment complex, says Leasing Manager Carl Jennifer. One way the Parliaments supports the Annandale community is through participating in local events, such as sponsoring the upcoming Taste of Annandale, a daylong festival June 13 on Tom Davis Drive.

Personnel from the Annandale Volunteer Fire Department host fire truck tours at the Open House.

The Parliaments also offers free activities for residents every month based on a theme, Jennifer says. For example, the theme for April was fitness, so there were free Zumba and low-impact exercise classes in the 24-hour fitness room in the Parliaments’ new community center/leasing office.

A free monthly Kids Club offers crafts, a movie, and snacks to young residents after school. There’s also a monthly karaoke party and an opportunity to meet the neighbors on Make a Friend Day.

The Parliaments has garden apartments and a high rise.

The Parliaments has 750 units with monthly rents ranging from $1,305 for a studio apartment in the high rise to $2,045 for a three-bedroom garden apartment.

There are only 24 vacancies in the community, so if people can’t find what they want, there were representatives at the open house from other properties also owned by Southern Management – celebrating its 50th anniversary this year – including Landmark Ridge in Lincolnia and Cavalier Club in Seven Corners.
