The Taters perform at Mason District Park
Kovacs calls the first song, “Spend a Little Time,” a pleasant mid-tempo rocker that sounds like an Elvis song from around 1962.
The second number, “Thingamajig,” was written by prolific country/swing songwriter Cindy Walker. There’s a legendary story about how in 1940 when she was a 22-year-old unknown from Texas, she walked into a Hollywood studio office to see if Bing Crosby would record one of her songs. He did, and she had a long, successful career, ending up in multiple songwriting halls of fame.
The free Spotlight by Starlight series continues at Mason District Park and Ossian Hall Park through the end of August.
